Sustainability is in our DNA. Vatten Pro has always been convinced of its ability and desire to contribute to a better world. In that respect, every era presents its own particular challenges.
Sustainable development is a question of combining social justice, environmental protection and economic development: People, Planet and Profit. Or as the classic Brundtland definition goes: ‘Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.’ Since the beginning of the 21st century, global goals – starting with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and now the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN – direct our attention to the global issues that need to be resolved.
Vatten Pro defines sustainability as doing what is right in an environment that is subject to continuous societal and natural changes. One of the good things about our work as engineers is that we give concrete form to sustainability and corporate social responsibility in the way we provide our services and run our operations. We possess the expertise for disentangling complex issues and translate those into concrete problems that lend themselves to practical solutions. In our view, designing is making choices with vision. Practice what you preach
As entrepreneurs, we are committed to corporate social responsibility. This means we take responsibility through our operational activities by such means as making our offices and mobility policy more sustainable. We aim to reduce our environmental impact each year, and report on this comprehensively in our Annual Report. The CO2 Performance Ladder is a tool that promotes ‘carbon awareness’ and we are proud of our Level 5 certification.
Committed
We are at the heart of society and feel committed to it. We actively participate in many different networks, including knowledge networks. Short lines of communication and close contact with educational institutions result in a number of professorships and many Vatten Pro employees teach in postgraduate and higher education courses. We aim to share our knowledge and contribute to a better living environment for everyone through smaller and larger initiatives. Our sponsorship policy supports this philosophy and is mainly focused on education and art and culture, as both have an important role to play in a healthy society.
